Prospectus

ELIGIBILITY AND STANDARDS   Please read very carefully.
The exhibition is open to all artists, 18 years of age or older, living in the southeast region of the United States.
All forms of painting, drawing, graphics, photography, sculpture, and ceramics are accepted. Entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant, executed in the Since Jan 1, 2005 and without supervision of an art instructor. Installations are not eligible. Entries that have won an award in a previous ADSO exhibition are ineligible.
   
Work that differs from the original image submitted to the competition will not be accepted.
    
No commissions will be taken.
     
Accepted work must be available for the duration of the exhibition. The Arts and Design Society reserves the right to use photographs of exhibited artwork in promotional materials.
         
Accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Framed, two-dimensional pieces must be appropriately matted; a white, off-white, or neutral-colored quality mat board preferred. The use of colored or black mats as the primary mat is discouraged. Heavy ornate frames are not acceptable. The work must have heavy wire attached securely to the back of the frame with screw eyes or track mounting clips and not exceed 65 inches in any direction, including the frame. Plexiglas recommended. Three-dimensional pieces must be able to be handled comfortably by two people. Any piece requiring assembly must be assembled by the artist at a time arranged with ADSO.
         
No changes in the title, sale price, or value may be made after the selection process. Accurate, legible information is to be provided on the slides and application.
        
All artwork must have a declared value for insurance purposes. If the piece is not to be sold, note NFS along with the value.
Selected artists will be asked to provide a short resume or artist’s statement for education and publicity
 

ENTRY INFORMATION

Image preparation: Images accepted will be 72 dpi on CD in JPG format, in the correct orientation. The image should measure no larger than 1920x1920 pixels, with a max file six of 1.8 MBs. Clearly label CD with the artist’s name, and each work, title, media, size (H x W x D) and year completed and number on the entry from.
            
Fees: $30.00 for the entry and $5.00 for each additional entry. (ADSO members $25 for the first entry and $5.00 for each additional entry.) Limit three (3) entries.

For 3-D work, two images may be submitted for one entry.
Images of work submitted will not be returned.

 

LIABILITY
All work will be insured while on exhibit at the OWC Arts Center Galleries. The Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, Inc., and the Okaloosa-Walton College, their officers, employees, directors, members, volunteers, or anyone connected with the exhibition will not be liable for damages. We suggest the artists carry their own insurance for this purpose. Damaged shipping containers will be returned unopened. Entrant’s signature on entry form indicates agreement with these conditions.

Sue Laing holds a Masters of Fine Art from the University of British Columbia, is an art instructor at Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton, Alabama

 

DELIVERY AND PICKUP
Shipped Work—Artwork must be shipped, prepaid, via UPS or FedEx in a sturdy reusable carton to arrive between April 21—24. All shipments must comply with UPS or FedEx size and weight restrictions. Ship artwork to:

“ADSO EXHIBITION” and artist’s name and address should be clearly marked on the outside of the carton. No Styrofoam peanuts may be used as packing material.
   
For return shipping charges, enclose in the shipping container, an envelope containing either the prepaid shipping charges and address label or a check made out to “ADSO” in the amount of the return shipping charges and insurance, and an address label. Works will not be returned without prepayment of shipping charges.
   
Hand-delivered work will be received Friday, April 21 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and Saturday April 24, from 10:00 am—noon at the OWC McIlroy Gallery. Pick up artwork on June 6, 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and Saturday June 7, from 10:00 am—noon. A $5.00 per day charge will apply for any work remaining after the pickup deadline.

 

RECEPTION

Reception and presentation of awards will be held for exhibiting artists, ADSO members, and guests from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 4, in the McIlroy Gallery at Okaloosa-Walton College.
   
The exhibit will be open to the public May 5 through June 5. Gallery hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday. The gallery is closed Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays.

 

AWARDS

Prize money will total $2500.00. As a special award for the first-place winner, a one-person show may be arranged in the Holtzhauer Gallery at OWC the following year.
